Prospective Students

Message from the Program Chair

Welcome to the Virginia Tech Urban Affairs and Planning Program (MURP). Virginia Tech offers exciting opportunities for future planning professionals through its American Planning Association accredited program offered at both the Blacksburg and in National Capital Region (Alexandria, VA).

We are currently recruiting 20-25 enthusiastic [WC] individuals for our 2008 graduating class. Attractive financial support packages are available in the form of half to full assistantships for qualified applicants.

As a MURP graduate you will be equipped for a wide variety of planning positions in the public and private sector. Hear how Virginia Tech fostered an outstanding graduate experience from our own MURP graduates.

Our highly qualified faculty has a wealth of expertise and is excited to make your graduate experience rewarding and successful. We pride ourselves on the diverse academic backgrounds of our student body including economics, geography, environmental sciences, anthropology, sociology, political science, and public policy from all over the world.

Please explore our website and take advantage of all our electronic resources. Contact us at uapvt.edu with questions about the planning profession and what our program has to offer.

Sincerely,
Jesse Richardson
Urban Affairs and Planning Program Chair
