Award Winning Study Identifies Redevelopment Opportunities for Portsmouth, Virginia

An UAP graduate studio prepared a comprehensive analysis of residential redevelopment potential in Portsmouth that includes very advanced analysis of both the economic sectors in Portsmouth and of housing location choice within the metropolitan area.  This studio, led by Dr. Ted Koebel, won the 2008 Student Project Award of the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association (VAPA). Communicating with Planners

UAP introduces Urban Update, a newsletter that informs the Virginia Tech planning community of their colleagues' global, national, and local activities. Virginia Tech’s program in Urban Affairs and Planning has two locations: Blacksburg and Old Town Alexandria. The Alexandria Center is one of Virginia Tech’s new initiatives in the National Capital Region. The Blacksburg location is one of the nation’s oldest, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2008.
