Sustainable Development of Forestlands Project
Project Goals
Specific project goals are to:
- Engage key stakeholders, opinion leaders and the public in a discussion about ways to protect intacted forestland and its associated timber and non-timber values;
- Recommend tools and techniques that will enable developers to implement conservation-based designs in or near forested areas, with minimum disturbance to forest soils, streams and watersheds.
The target audience includes local officials, administrators, planners, designers, engineers, developers, landowners, real-estate professionals, investors, and interested local residents.
Project Objectives
Develop guidelines and encourage the discussion of practices that will promote sustainable forestland development for communities within the New River Valley and other parts of Virginia.
