The Public Policy concentration gives Public & Urban Affairs students the opportunity to focus on policy development, analysis, and implementation, and to explore an array of public policy issues, from health and social welfare to environment and urban development to national security.
Upon completion of the Public Policy (PUPO) concentration in Public and Urban Affairs, students are prepared for entry level positions in public and nonprofit agencies and private firms dealing with public policy issues and for graduate study in policy, public administration, planning and law.
PUA students concentrating in Public Policy rreceive a strong academic foundation through policy courses in the PUA core, one required course in policy making, and four courses selected from a list of offerings in policy issues and policy development.
Qualified students are encouraged to participate in SPIA's Washington Semester, a ten-week, twelve credit hour summer program in the nation's capital which blends academic seminars with internships and site visits into a unique learning experience.
